When i relocated to Sarasota from Northern New Jersey in 2019, I needed to find a physician for some prescription renewals. Via on line research, neighbors in my new community and the local community blog in the over 55 community where I live, I elected to contact Dr. Gelvin's office. He was accepting new patients. Initially, I had regular visit with general examination. Dr. Gelvin renewed my prescriptions. I then scheduled my annual physical for later that year. This was prior to Dr. Gelvin affiliating with MDVIP. With my last internist in New York at Weill Cornell, I was lucky to have a 15 minute visit, and test results were given over the phone. Dr. Gelvin spends an hour or more completing the annual physical. Dr. Gelvin sends bloodwork for the annual physical to the Cleveland Clinic for a thorough analysis. This resulted in identifying an excess of a small calcium that was a potential problems for blocking an artery. Resultant follow-up with a cardiologist has enabled me to manage the problem with statin.

There is no one instance that makes me appreciate Dr Chris Gelvin. I would have to site that from my first appointment he made me feel relaxed and listened. Several times I have been very upset and scared but after talking with him and following his instructions I felt at ease. My philosophy as an internal medicine physician is to provide you with personalized healthcare and attention, with an emphasis on prevention and wellness. As an MDVIP-affiliated physician, I have more time to develop close relationships with my patients and perform more comprehensive exams.

With over 20 years’ experience practicing in the Sarasota community, I have relationships with many specialists to assist with your care. In addition, I am affiliated with Doctor’s Hospital and Sarasota Memorial Hospital and make daily rounds at Sarasota Memorial.

My office offers a warm and welcoming environment to provide personalized care. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments that start on time. As a private physician in internal medicine, I look forward to providing you with a higher level of care.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
