My wife has not been in the best of health after she had covid in August 2022. She was in the hospital for a number of days in ICU. Her request to me was, "I don't want to go on the vent". Most of the time she was out of it and all the Hospital doctors (it seemed like a new one every day) would come in and review her chart. Each time they asked if they could put her on the vent and I would say NO. They kept having her get a shot in the stomach to prevent blood clots. After 4 days of this, she started to bleed in her stomach and she actually looked like she was 8 months pregnant. I kept asking what was going on and they finally got a surgeon to look at her. He had to operate on her to save her life. Right after that, another hospital doctor came in and wanted to continue with the shots in her stomach and I said hell no. I had the surgeon take care of her after that. Right after she got out, I signed her up with Dr. William Boulware. My brother and his family and my sister and her family had been using Dr. William Boulware for years. He started doing things with her right away. Helping her get back on her feet. Then in December 2023 she had an infection in her lungs. She had been throwing up and having diarrhea for several days. It happened on a weekend and I did not realize I could have called him then and have her looked at. On a Monday morning at 4:30 AM I took her to the emergency room at our local hospital and upon arriving, informed them that she was a patient of Dr. Boulware. This was about 5:30AM that morning. 6:45 AM Dr. Steve Ross came in to her emergency room. He is the partner of Dr. Boulware. She was admitted at that time. Dr. Boulware came to see her every morning before 7 AM to check on her. He did this the entire time she was in the hospital for 9 days. If anything changed, the nurses would contact his office with different results. He had his own lung and kidney doctors come in and attend to her. After I saw all this, and how he worked, I decided to join the MDVIP club and asked that Dr. Boulware be my doctor. By the way, my wife is doing great now. I am old enough to remember when you went to the hospital, your personal doctor would come over every morning or evening and do rounds. This is no longer the way they do things. However, the MDVIP membership lets the doctor do this. Now when you go to the hospital, they let the hospital doctors take over. This is not good. They do not know you or anything about you. They come in and read your chart and for 5 minutes or so, they recommend things for you. Now that sucks. You cannot make a educated decision on me in that time. Some things don't need to change and a doctor/patient relationship should not change. I cannot say enough about this. Yes, it is a little expensive but what is your life worth to you. Having seen them in action was enough for me. You cannot bring in a new quarterback into the game for every play. That is what it is now. A quarterback like Dr. Boulware is a veteran and knows the plays and his patients much better than the hospital doctors do. I am not taking things away from them but for my money, it will be my MDVIP doctor.
Thank you for allowing me to tell my story like this.
