Dr. Jacobs lives in Cary with his wife Kimmie and their five children since adopting a 14 year old from Ukraine in 2015.
Dr. Jacobs and Kimmie have served together on a short-term medical mission trip to El Salvador and since 2008 he serves as a board member supporting this ongoing work.
The entire Jacobs' family was able to serve short-term in two orphanages in Beijing, China in May 2008. Subsequently members of the Jacobs clan have served in Kenya, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Red Springs, NC.
They are active members in the children's and youth ministry at Colonial Baptist Church and in the sports ministry where Dr. Jacobs volunteers as a developmental league basketball coach.

In February of 2019 Steve and I were at the beach and once again I was sick with asthmatic bronchitis. My medical doctor was not concerned that I had had 13 episodes in 4 years. Steve didn’t want me to go back to him so he contacted Dr Jacobs. He explained what had been going on for years and how bad my cough was. Dr Jacobs said can you be here at 3:00 from the beach. That was my first visit as Dr Jacobs patient as an MDVIP doctor. He was very concerned about how my lungs sounded and for the next several months he followed my care with a pulmonary doctor. As things continued to get worse and nothing made me any better he advised me to go back to the pulmonary doctor again. Tests showed there was something wrong in one of my lungs. The pulmonary doctor did a bronchoscopy and lung washing cultures. A mucus plug the size of a golf ball was removed and the cultures grew out pseudonymous which could indicate I didn’t have an immune system anymore. As it turned out that’s what was wrong. I was referred to an immunologist and was started on Hizentra infusions once a week. I thank Dr Jacobs for caring enough to keep digging to help me find out what was wrong.

Wanda Hilliard-I was 32/33 when I begin seeing Dr. James Jacobs. I did not realize how young he was. He was taking new patients at the practice and I was young and looking for a primary doctor. A few weeks ago I made an appointment with Dr. Jacobs to try and find about why I could not get my nose to dry up. I felt great but I just couldn't get my nose to stop running. The Nurse came to my car and gave me a covid test. Low and behold I was positive. I never did feel bad. About ten minutes after I got my test results Dr. Jacobs came out and stood by my car in the cold and gave me instructions how to lessen the spread of covid. Picture this, Dr. Jacobs standing in the cold doing the Dr. patent /consultation when he could have called my cell phone. Thank you for your patient first personal approach.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
