Dr David Verbofsky called me, out of the blue, when he was informed that I was about to have lung surgery. I hadn't been in touch with him, since the teams at Penn Medicine were my immediate contacts about this. What Dr V didn't know is that I was in London when I got his phone call, about to fly back for the surgery (amazingly my US SIM card worked to pick up the call on my cell phone) . It was so kind of him to think of calling me just to say how sorry he was but also to send support and reassurance. I truly valued that! And he's been terrific as a resource during my post-surgery recovery, helping me navigate different pain medications and being open to my experiments with physical therapy to relieve the pain (this has been working!). Dr David Verbofsky has always been available & concerned about my medical needs. On April 10, 2023 he called me with results of the MRI of my spine. The results were very bad, & he indicated the need to see a neurosurgeon. I called the Neurosurgery department & couldn’t be seen by a neurosurgeon until July. I called Dr Verbofsky, & he said he would help me. Two days later he called to tell me that a neurosurgeon’s office would call me to schedule in a few minutes. Within a few minutes, the neurosurgeon’s office called at about 10 am & scheduled me to see the neurosurgeon at noon that day. My surgery was scheduled that day on 5/9/23. This is just one example of his responsiveness to my medical needs.

My goal as a personal physician is to manage illness and promote wellness based on my understanding of each patient as an individual. As an MDVIP-affiliated primary care physician, I have more time to carefully review records, perform comprehensive evaluations, discuss complex medical findings and most importantly, develop close relationships with my patients. I also offer conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices. This personalized approach allows me to get to know each of my patients beyond just their immediate needs. I consistently look forward using this knowledge as the foundation for helping my patients achieve their healthcare goals.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
