In the fall of 2023, I became very ill from a number of different problems. I had severe back pain due to decay in my lower facet joints in the lumbar spine. I had a body-wide, but nasal centered inflammation, perhaps an allergenic reaction to clouds of cement dust swirling around my home for months on end. And, as a result of both problems, my sleep had deteriorated to a few hours per night. Medicines I had already been prescribed did not seem to reduce the symptoms. One night in November I ended up in the Emergency Room due to pain and desperation. Later that month I was scheduled with Dr Nestor, of MDVIP, for a routine appointment. I had been a patient less than a year by that time. Even though there were patients waiting on the schedule to see the doctor after my turn, Dr Nestor extended the length of the appointment to address not only the routine matters, but also the other symptoms I was struggling with. I received care for all my issues, including self-help advice that went far beyond what I could have expected from the typical doctor's clinic. My wife was impressed with the amount of attention I received and noted that the doctor helped me in every possible way he could. I did recover after six-eight weeks. I will always be grateful for the extra help I got when I really needed it, despite the fact that the clinic was unaware of the shape I was in prior to showing up that day. Needless-to-say, if I had still been a patient in the care of doctors from the past, I might still be competing for access to the care I needed. Today, as a member of MDVIP, I am confident that I'll get the care I need, when I need it.

I believe that practicing medicine needs to include a partnership between the doctor and the patient. This partnership should be based on mutual trust and respect which is earned, not given. As an MDVIP-affiliated physician, I will have more time to develop the close relationships with my patients that is necessary for me to provide care. I will also have more time to review records, call other doctors involved in your care, help in arranging specialist appointments and perform comprehensive examinations. With me as your personal physician, we can work as a team and formulate a wellness plan that will help you achieve your health goals. There are no short cuts to being healthy and no simple formulas or “one-size-fits-all” approaches when it comes to the well-being of my patients. My MDVIP-affiliated practice offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. With 30 years of practicing internal medicine in the St. Petersburg/Tampa area, I have established relationships with many specialists to assist you with your unique needs. Along with internal medicine, my interests and experience are in cardiovascular health, diabetes, hypertension, geriatrics, neurology, pulmonology, GI and preventive health.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
