Wonder of Wonders
Alison Schlissman is a Wonder among Wonders! No kidding! Alison had been referred to me when I was searching for just the right doctor for my elderly sister. I fell in love with her and her manner immediately and soon became a patient myself. She has seen me through thick and thin (including my sizes) --and I am still here! A couple of years ago Alison left the University of Utah health system and joined MDVIP. I was left with a pretty serious choice to make--whether to pay the personal annual fee to MDVIP or whether to find a new doctor. I am an elderly lady on a fixed income (which was fixed 20 years ago) which makes the annual fee difficult. But it really was not a hard choice to make--I needed to have Alison as my doctor! When I asked her why she was leaving, she told me that with the U of U she could not do the kind of doctoring that she wanted to do. I have since found out what she was talking about. About a year ago I was extremely sick and ultimately ended up in the hospital. For the week prior to that my daughter was in constant contact with Alison letting her know what was happening and getting advice on what she should do. Every time Lynne called her, she was available to answer her questions and guide her through my illness (from which I have obviously recovered). And if I text Alison with a short note, she will answer my text within a few minutes. In other words: SHE IS AVAILABLE! Another reason she is a Wonder of Wonders is that she is sharp and knowledgeable. She hits the nail on the head and correctly diagnoses what is wrong with me and what is the remedy. She REMEMBERS what my ailments are (and have been) and remembers what medicines I am taking. She sometimes reminds ME what I have forgotten about sicknesses I have had in the past. Alison is truly the kind of doctor that everyone wishes he/she could have. I remember as a little child how the doctor would come to our home and give loving, personal care. There were no ERs in those days and the doctor would come to our home as soon as he could. It was so comforting and reassuring when we saw him at the door, available and ready to administer help. I feel that same way with Alison. She is available, she is comforting and reassuring, and she knows what to do and what I should do, and she follows up on critical issues to make sure I am doing my part to get better. I turned 87 years old last week. Last year I took a cruise, flew many miles to visit with my brother and spend time with my daughter. I went to Mexico with my daughter and granddaughter and spent a week with a good friend. I make modern quilts that win prizes in international quilt shows. I write published articles for magazines and newspapers. I am so grateful to have a loving, caring doctor who sees me through my 87-year-old health crises. It's an archaic saying, but--I wouldn't be here without her! THANKS, Alison, for all that you do for me!!
