What It Takes To Keep An 82 Year Old On The Road
Dr Sharon Chaney is my very best go-to girl! I’m an 82 year old widow who had an incredible late-years marriage to an adventurous biology professor. We retired and set out to see all the bugs and birds and wildflowers in the world. And we did exactly that for 22 years until pulmonary fibrosis cut our adventures short. After he died, I moved to a retirement community and tried to accept life in the slow lane…but it didn’t work. Not long after returning to life in the real world, a series of serendipitous events occurred. My dearest friend introduced me to Dr Chaney who assured me that if I am steadfast in taking my meds and following healthy guidelines, I have a lot of good days left! Not long after, the same friend (age 76) also became a widow and as a way to help her move forward, we planned a sentimental journey to scatter our husbands’ ashes in places we had previously traveled. We texted Dr Sharon all along the way and sent pictures of us everywhere from Maine to New Brunswick to the Texas Hill Country. She responded every time in minutes with a big thumbs up and encouragement to take our medicine and find all the joy in life that is possible. Knowing she is never more than a text away is a comfort like no other. She knows me, she understands me, and she cares just as much about my quality of life as she cares about my physical wellbeing. My friend and I have 4 trips planned for 2024 and you can bet Dr Sharon Chaney will be right there with us!
