What is a fair cost for Medical care?
I had been seeing Dr. "S" for several years now. The major reason for me continuing to be a patient of Dr. "S" is that I had complete confidence in him and his medical skills. I had watched my father pass away at the tender age of 59, mainly because he did not have "up to date" medical advice and treatment. I influenced my mother to take him to New Orleans, where they quickly diagnosed his medical problem. By this time it was too late for treatment.
I feel that Dr. "S" is not only up to date on his knowledge, but he is also very concerned and interested in the welfare of all of his patients. I can call upon him for any medical needs that I might have and he is always there.
Surely I could find a Doctor that would be much less expensive, and God knows that I could use the savings since I am now on a fixed income. My family has tried to influence me in finding a less expensive medical provider but I feel that I have a fair knowledge as to what is worth the spending of my retirement reserves. I feel that not only Dr. "S" skills and knowledge, but also because of his concern and commitment to my health, it is well worth the money I spend for proper medical attention. I do not want to be a patient of an office where the doctor is too busy seeing masses of patients that no one gets the undivided attention of the health provider. I do not want to be a patient of the doctors that feel that their medical and surgical attentions are simply provided in order to live a life of excess and exorbitance. I personally have been put on a surgical table by a doctor who did not give me the time of day. He simply wanted to get the surgery over, collect his fees and move on to the next money making project.
Not my doctor "S". He is always there when I need him. Once I awoke from back surgery and there beside my bed was one of the hospital doctors. I got very aggravated and told him that he was not my doctor. I wanted DR. "S" to be by my side. Within minutes Dr. "S" appeared at my bedside. What a feeling of relief and satisfaction to know that I was being looked after by the doctor who really cared for me and my well being.
How much is this wonderful medical attention worth? I do not know what you feel it worth, but for me, I am willing to sacrifice some of the trivial pleasures of life to know that Dr. "S" will always be there for me.
