Weekend Call
My story is about Dr. Jacqueline Skaggs. I have been a patient of hers for over 15 years. I was on blood thinners for three small blood clots in my calf due to breaking my foot. I had never been on blood thinners before, and I was scheduled for just 3-6 months. Dr. Skaggs shared that I needed to be careful on blood thinners and that I needed to avoid a fall at all costs. I was visiting a friend in Crested Butte, CO and we decided to go XC skiing, not downhill skiing which I thought would be dangerous! I had a great day skiing and, on the way back to the Nordic Center I fell coming down a small hill. I landed on my hip and immediately bruised. This was Saturday afternoon. I woke Sunday morning remembering Dr. Skaggs warning not to fall on blood thinners. I texted her at 7:30 am and she immediately called me. We talked for a few minutes, she asked me several questions, and we decided I would come in for a visit the next day. In the end, I had no complications due to my fall...thank goodness. The best part of this experience was that I knew I could reach out to Dr. Skaggs, and she would respond. What I appreciate about her is that she is always honest and kind. Thank Dr. Skaggs, you're the best!
