I retired from the practice of law at the end of 2019, just before covid hit. In January 2020, instead of coming down with covid, I developed heart disease. My Houston, TX MDVIP, Dr. Elizabeth Boehme referred me to a cardiologist, and I learned that I needed a stent to clear a 95% blockage in my LAD. But this is not the end of the story. I plodded along well with the stent until June 2023, when I once again developed chest pain of course on the weekend. However, this time I was in Asheville North Carolina where I live in the summer with no family practice physician or cardiologist. I contacted Dr. Boehme and she coordinated my care by interfacing with my Houston cardiologist, transmitting medical records to the cardiologist assigned to me at Mission Hospital in Asheville and facilitating a call between the two cardiologists. In less than 48 hours, the Asheville cardiologist placed one more life-saving stent in my LAD to clear up a 90% blockage only a few millimeters from the first stent.
