Thanks doc. You probably saved my life.
Dr. Nguyen has inspired me to lose weight. I am 65, overweight and borderline Type 2 diabetic. He started by telling me that I was approaching the point of having to take insulin shots. I HATE needles. He then told me that if I lost weight it would alleviate my problem. He also told me stories of other patients who had lost weight. One was able to give up all the pills he was taking and another kept a chart of his weight loss, and charting his progress was motivational. So, encouraged by the success of others I was determined to find a method which worked for me. I tried a number of things, none of which worked, so I understood how others could become discouraged. But it seemed that with each of my visits the doc always got around to mentioning weight loss, as well as how much closer I was to having to take shots. So, I kept at it and I finally found my workable solution. Now, recently retired, I am able to sleep late, eat a late breakfast, then eat a late lunch so as to be able to skip supper. It's a little twist on the fasting method and it has been working. With each small loss I establish a new barrier to break on the the weighing scales. I don't break the new barrier right away, it always takes a little time, but as Dr. Nguyen says, It's a marathon, not a sprint. The last time I was in the doc's office he recorded my weight loss of eleven pounds from the last time I was in. Currently, I am still breaking barriers, a few pounds at a time. For years I thought that nothing would ever work. Now, I am eyeing a new goal: to get down to what I weighed in high school. Thanks doc. You probably saved my life.
