Thankful for a great primary care physician

I've been with Dr. Gerald Watanabe when he started back in the 90s. He is a good communicator, organized and conscientious, empathetic and makes you feel well cared for, staff makes sure to remind patients of doing their annual wellness checkups and any additional follow up appointments, great at diagnosing health issues and collaborating with the patient and other healthcare professionals at finding the best treatment. Several years ago, I missed my annual wellness checkup, almost 2 years passed before I made it to the next wellness checkup. Dr. Watanabe had me take a comprehensive blood panel and also do a ultrasound. Couple weeks later I went in to go over my results, the ultrasound had caught a spot on one of my kidneys. He saw that the spot was not there on the last ultrasound taken couple years ago. He referred me to a urologists for further analysis. The urologist (Dr. Roytman) took further scans and found that it had blood flow, we monitored it for about a year. After a year, the spot did grow a little and Dr. Roytman decided it was safer to remove it as it my be cancerous. Dr Roytman successfully removed the spot by performing Da Vinci Robotic surgery. It was minimal invasive surgery, I had the surgery on a Friday, stayed overnight for monitoring and went home on Sunday. I had no discomfort after the surgery, just amazing. The spot was sent for biopsy, the result shown it was cancerous. I now do yearly follow up checkup with Dr Roytman, and go in for annual wellness checkup with Dr. Watanabe....so far so good. I am very thankful that Dr. Watanabe had me do that comprehensive annual checkup years ago, if it was not for that, that spot on my kidney would have gone undetected for years and may have caused severe damage to my kidney. I have complete trust and confidence in Dr. Watanabe and his staff, my mom and kids all go to Dr. Watanabe....we all appreciate him as a doctor and a friend.
