I have been a patient of Dr. Schmitz since he became an MDVIP physician in 2006, and it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. What could be more important than one's health? Dr. Schmitz not only treats an immediate health problem or a questionable lab result, but he tracks down pertinent previous health history, arranges for additional screenings or referrals to specialists, and follows up with the results within an amazingly short period of time. He has called me with test results or to answer one of my concerns even after regular office hours in the evening or on a weekend.
I remember when I had an extremely severe bout of diverticulitis, Dr. Schmitz arranged for an immediate CAT scan, later spoke directly to my pharmacist regarding my medications, and even called me a few days into treatment to see how I was feeling. He is knowledgeable and extremely thorough, but he is not an alarmist. His calm demeanor alleviates the stress associated with health issues.
Kudos, also, go to Margie, Dr. Schmitz's nurse. She is very competent and professional, as well as being very calm and friendly, making an office visit to the doctor a relaxing experience.
