A series of moments
Dr Minsky has been my PCP for many years and has been there with me through several health crises. We both grew up in the same small town and usually have some catching up on mutual acquaintances and news about familiar places in that small town to start my appointment. However, Dr Minsky keeps me focused on my health journey by highlighting my successes and offering suggestions to counteract my weak areas.
It is hard for me to pick out a particular moment that made a difference, it is more of a series of moments that enables me to believe and feel that he has 'my back'. However, if pushed for a single moment, one of those times was my waking up in an intensive care unit one morning after a severe heart attack and stent insertion in my LAD artery the previous night. Dr Minsky was there at 6:30 a.m. that morning, letting me know I had a great cardiologist and that he, Dr. Minsky, would be in the loop on my path to recovery. That meant a lot to me. Additionally, there are also a half dozen late night calls over the years from my wife or I about our health concerns, calls taken graciously by Dr Minsky, despite the hour, that result in my blood pressure and anxiety levels decreasing to a more favorable level.
