Dr. Leo Toupin was referred to me by a business acquaintance many years ago.
You have asked us to pick one special moment that stands out while under Dr. Toupin's care.
For me there are many. I have picked just two.

In the summer of 2014, I was seeing a gastroenterolgist for stomach pain. He and his assistants prescribed "over the counter medications " for several weeks, which were not solving the problem for me. I decided to go see Dr. Toupin and get his opinion. Right away he ordered a CT scan. He called me as soon as he had received the results and said, "The scan shows that you have diverticulitis which is causing your pain. But, the scan also shows one other thing...you may have a precancerous condition in your pancreas. You need to see an oncologist.

To make a long story short, I did have a precancerous condition called IPMN (Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm). I ended up having a total pancreatectomy which of course removed any threat of pancreatic cancer. I will forever be grateful for Dr. Toupin discovering the seriousness of my condition. I will never forget it.

Next...In January 2019, I had foot surgery. It became infected. The orthopedic surgeon gave me multiple doses of antibiotics. No improvement. I became very frightened and anxious about the possibility of amputation which I had been told can happen sometimes with people who are Type 1 diabetic, like me.
I called Dr. Toupin and asked if he would take a look at my foot. Of course he said, "Yes." He immediately came in the exam room, unwrapped the dressing, looked at my foot, sees my concern, looks me straight in the eye, and with the most serious and sincere voice he said, "Your surgeon is doing the right
treatment and you are not going to loose your foot." Not only did he calm my fears, but he walked me out to my car (since I was on a knee walker) making sure I was okay and also making sure I didn't need help getting into my car. Who does that??

I can never thank Dr. Toupin enough for all that he has done for me...made me well, removed my fears, prevented health problems, treated injuries, always available when I need answers, and super patient when I am a bit stubborn about not doing what might be best for me.
Dr. Leo Toupin is positively the best doctor ever!
(By the way, I did not loose my foot.)
