Relieved to have had Dr. Sharon Scanlon as my MDVIP doctor.
A little more than several years ago, on an Sunday afternoon in April, I had a bike accident where I suffered amnesia. Some neighborhood folks saw me laying on the ground, unconscious, with my bike on top of me. They picked me and my bike up, drove me home (I guess I was lucid enough to tell them where I lived), and asked if I wanted them to take me to the hospital. I was in sort of a daze and declined their offer. But then I thought I should probably call Dr. Sharon Scanlon, tell her what happened and asked her what I should do. She was easily reachable (even on a beautiful Sunday in the Spring), and she was adamant that I get someone to take me to the best ER in my area, immediately, and concisely explained why. Fortunately, my partner drove up to our house a few minutes after I spoke with Dr. Scanlon, and she drove me to Suburban Hospital's ER. I was immediately taken care of when I told them what had happened. Fortunately, after some tests, it was determined that I had suffered a concussion, and the ER kept me overnight for observation. The ER staff told me that it was fortunate that I was able to reach my doctor and that my doctor's advice was exactly right. But without access to Dr. Scanlon that day, the outcome of my "adventure" could have been a lot worse.
