when I unknowingly broke my hand, my doctor not only referred me to an great hand surgeon, but her staff set up the appointment for me, sparing me the hassle of me having to getting through layers of admin to explain the problem and make an appointment. (she also responded promptly to my query about the above hand issue, (unfortunately a rare occurrence in today's medicine) which was appreciated since I was in pain.
