As part of my annual physical exam a blood test ordered by Dr. Slattery indicated a spike in my PSA. He referred me to a radiologist who could not see me for five months. Instead I was examined by a RNP in the urological group. She suggested a urine screening test. I received a phone mail message from her a week or so later asking to call her back about the test result. I attempted to do so on two occasions and was told she had "a lot of patients to see that day". I relayed this situation to Dr. Slattery who contacted the urologist. Dr. Slattery ordered a copy of the urine screen test and concurred that it indicated a follow up was necessary. Within 24 hours Dr. Slattery notified me that the urologist would "get personally involved in my case". Shortly thereafter I was contacted by a radiology group telling me the urologist had referred me for a 3T MRI of my pelvic region. The MRI, thankfully, showed that I do not have prostate cancer. Who knows how long I would have been "hanging out" waiting to find out my prognosis?
