Frankly, I was surprised and caught off guard; the symptoms sort of sneaked up on me. After a few days of sniffing, nose blowing and such, I went to a local walk-in clinic in our city of Lexington and asked to be tested for Covid. Twenty minutes later, while shopping in our local Walmart, I was notified via cell phone: Yes, Covid had sure enough caught me. Quite unwillingly, I had joined the "multiple thousands club." My first thought was, "Oh no! What should I do?" Then I remembered the oft-repeated instruction from my valued MDVIP physician, Dr. Greg Hood: "Bill, if you encounter a problem, call me. You have my number; call me! That is why I am here. Call me!" I decided to take him at his word. I touched his number in my cell phone and left a message. Within minutes his nurse responded, assuring me she would immediately speak with Dr. Hood and get back to me. In less than ten minutes Dr. Hood personally called me. He said, "Bill, I want you to immediately go to the hospital. They are waiting for you. I have called them; they are preparing to give you an infusion. I think this is the best line of treatment. It should quickly and strongly address your Covid issue. Go now; they are waiting for you." I really couldn't believe Dr. Hood's rapid, caring response. I did exactly what he advised. The hospital was prepared and ready to go. Two hours later I walked out thinking, "Wow! How good is this!" Dr. Hood's rapid response, his attention to the details and his recommended treatment were exactly what I needed. Two days later I was up and going full speed ahead. Over the many months and multiple appointments since, I have come to realize that Dr.'s Hood's rapid reponse to my Covid call was not a one off deal. I have learned that he and his entire staff are consistent, wonderful people whom I have come to appreciate. Dr. Hood really does care about his patients, each of us. I feel very fortunate to be his patient and also his friend. Thank you, Dr. Hood.
