Possibly a life-saving office visit
I have been with MDVIP since it’s inception in the year 2000. When my doctor of 15 years joined MDVIP I followed Dr Collins immediately. So I had the same doctor for 35 years in total and we had a great rapport but he finally retired at the end of 2021.
So now I have a new doctor at MDVIP. Dr Colt Dunteman. That was a huge change. Of course I was a little apprehensive because I’m dealing with an unknown at this point. I have been very picky when it comes to healthcare providers. I’ve used my same dentist for over 50 years. Even when I lived out of state. So this was a big change.
I met Dr Dunteman at Dr Collins retirement party, where they introduced the new doctor.
Very nice guy. Lovely and supportive wife. So my fingers were crossed that we would also get along famously. I may not have another 35 years left in me, but then again I need the right guy to help me to try to get there.
As I mentioned above I was a bit apprehensive and concerned. I figure there’s only three groups of doctors. Good ones, bad ones and great ones just like anything else. What were the odds that I would have two great ones back to back? But I was hoping and believed that MDVIP would find a suitable doctor to take over.
The transition was smooth. The wonderful nurses there, Denise and Jennifer that I have known for decades as well, stayed on. That made it much easier and more comfortable. After my initial check up, I felt very confident that I was in good hands with Dr Dunteman.
Then in early Januay 2023. I went to see the new doctor for an issue that I had. He checked me out came back a few minutes later and he said the words I will never forget, “I’m going to contact the cardiologist and I’ll let you know if I’m sending you to the hospital or sending you home.” That was the first time I ever heard those words in my life. I hadn’t been in a hospital since I was 2 1/2 years old. I’ve been very fortunate in life. But that put a chill down my spine that I will never forget.
To make a long story short, I had a heart issue. Luckily, my new MDVIP doctor, Colt Dunteman caught it. He called the cardiologist. I went to see the cardiologist. they were pretty puzzled. They were discussing it amongst several doctors trying to figure it out and eventually they found out that my heart was stopping as much as 4 seconds while I was sleeping. That episode occurred several times a night. i’m running a few other issues.
At first, they believed it was sleep apnea. But as they discussed it and looked at my issues, even more, they realized what was really going on and a few days later I had a pacemaker implanted.
So I just want to take this moment to thank Dr. Robert,Collins for his first 35 years and I want to give a special thanks to my new doctor Colt Dunteman for saving my life and being a competent doctor and just being a nice guy overall.
I would call that a very successful transition and thank you MDVIP for making that transition seamless.
Joining MDVIP was about as smart a decision as I have ever made. This is truly the frontline of being healthy. Health insurance where it really matters. When I have a question on anything, they are right there. The doctor always calls back. You are never lost in the mix. They know who you are, I know who they are. it’s been a wonderful experience, and I would never have it any other way. It gives me great peace of mind knowing I have a competent team available at my fingertips at the drop of a hat. That’s priceless in today’s world.
So a tip of the hat to Dr. Robert Collins, Dr. Colt Dunteman, Denise, and Jennifer, and MDVIP! What a team! Wonderful, and dedicated people that are personable competent, and genuinely care. I find that rare in today’s world, so thank you very much!!
