Positive Outcome!
Three years ago I had a raging 103 fever and went to the emergency room at Hilton Head Hospital, where my fever was diagnosed as a UTI. The day after I returned home, I noticed that a horrible rash was creeping up one of my legs. Since COVID was at an all-time high, and a rash could be symptomatic, I called Dr. Lora Meadows on her cell phone (it was a Sunday evening). She was very concerned and asked me to photograph the rash and text it to her. Her diagnosis was that I did not have COVID - I was having an allergic reaction to the antibiotic I was taking for the UTI. She immediately prescribed a different medication, and the rash (and the UTI) disappeared. I remember being very grateful that Dr. Meadows was so accessible and knowledgeable about what was happening to me. I had never had a drug allergy, so it didn't occur to me that I was having a reaction. But Dr. Meadows immediately diagnosed it, having looked only at a photograph of my rash. She truly is a fantastic doctor - knowledgeable, compassionate and committed to her patients.
