phone call out of the blue

Dr David Verbofsky called me, out of the blue, when he was informed that I was about to have lung surgery. I hadn't been in touch with him, since the teams at Penn Medicine were my immediate contacts about this. What Dr V didn't know is that I was in London when I got his phone call, about to fly back for the surgery (amazingly my US SIM card worked to pick up the call on my cell phone) . It was so kind of him to think of calling me just to say how sorry he was but also to send support and reassurance. I truly valued that! And he's been terrific as a resource during my post-surgery recovery, helping me navigate different pain medications and being open to my experiments with physical therapy to relieve the pain (this has been working!). Every time I've got in touch on the portal he's given a lightening turnaround. Thanks!!
