Passionate, caring and thorough!!!
I have several stories about Dr. Toms, but the two that stand out to me are the time I turned 50 Dr. Toms wanted me to take a series of test. They were the normal stress test, colonoscopy, and so forth! I kept putting him off, for about 3 or 4 years, and finally I went to a visit for a small problem and he said he was firing me as a patient? The reason was he couldn't take care of treating me to the best of his ability, without all the test being done! Didn't want to lose him as a DR. so I got the test done. Good thing, I found out I was pretty healthy at 55 and, and as a reservist was being deployed to Iraq for a year. The other and most important to me, was, I had been going to Veterans Admin for some things from my deployment, and I thought they were being thorough? Went to Dr. Toms for a small infection, and physical, he notified me a short time later that my blood work was not correct? He asked if VA had said anything about my blood work, and they had not. He sent me to our local Oncologist and they put me thru a series of test only to find I had Leukemia? It was from the area I was deployed to in Iraq? I owe my life and health to Dr. Toms, and will stay with him as long as I am able!! Trust is a huge thing for me, and I trust him completely!! Thank you Dr. Toms for all you do for me!! God Bless.
