Our Family Doctor ... Dr. Alice Reed
I'm old enough to remember when Dr's made house calls, and were indeed considered a member of the family. Well, ever since we encountered Dr. Alice Reed, I feel as close to those "early year memories" as I've ever been. I've always been blessed with good physicians and healthcare, as I've moved around the country, but I'm getting to an age where I seem to be spending more time in physician offices that I do anywhere. Dr. Reed was caring for our son and his family when we first moved here, and has since begun taking care of our entire family ... and even other family members who don't live here, when they visit. I will never forget the kind, gentle care she provided to my mother-in-law when we moved her here a few years ago to recover from an illness that we weren't entirely sure about ... instead, in a short period of time she entered hospice and was gone. Dr. Reed showed us the utmost compasion and followed up with my wife on a daily basis (sometimes multiple times during the day) to answer questions, and provide guidance ... and just let her know that she was there if needed. She is always available and very responsive, whether by phone, text or message through the MDVIP portal. She has provided us with wonderful referals, and always continues to follow-up and monitor the care provided by others. She takes an amazing amount of time during our office visits to go over things, discussing options, and always inviting our comments, input and thoughts on how our care shoud proceed. I took a nasty fall this past Christmas Day (at a hospital no less) while visiting our daughter who was hospitalized with complications with her pregnancy. I was taken to the ER, stitched up and monitored with ECG, CAT scans, etc. On the 27th, when Dr. Reed had seen the results of that ER visit, she called me at home to follow-up, and make sure that I wasn't having any problems related to any of the other medical conditions and surgeries I've had. We feel so very blessed to have her in our family!
