Non Small Cell Lung Cancer
I get a physical every year. In September, 2022, I had my physical with Dr. Saman Lashkari and he told me I was in great shape at 85 years old. In reviewing my chart, he noticed that I had not had a chest X-ray for 3 years and arranged for me to get one. The same day as the X-ray he called me to say that there was a spot detected on my right lung and that he had arranged for me to get a CT scan. Again, the day of the scan he called me to tell me that the nodule looked suspicious and that further investigation was appropriate.
I took all of my results to City of Hope in Duarte, California for evaluation. I am a breast cancer survivor from 2011. Not knowing who to actually see, I contacted my breast oncologist and she told me to bring everything to her. When she looked at the CT scan she said the nodule definitely looked suspicious and would require a biopsy. Although she would not treat me, she immediately made the arrangements for the biopsy. The biopsy revealed that the nodule was Non-small cell lung cancer. I was treated at City of Hope with both radiation and cutting edge Immunotherapy drugs and was cancer free within 6 months. Beginning in April, 2023, I am now on a drug maintenance program with an infusion every 4 weeks.
Had it not been for Dr. Lashkari's observation and insistence that I get a chest X-ray, I don't know where my health would be at this time. In retrospect, I owe my life to him for his attention to my health and medical needs. THANK YOU, DR. LASHKARI.
