Nighttime Disasters- The Story of PPP
It seems the older I get, the more my ailments, illnesses and catastrophes occur at night. Whether a nose bleed, UTI, Covid, a reaction to a prep given for colonoscopy, even a stroke, they always manifest themselves at night, after “business hours”.
EVERY TIME my husband or I would call Dr Kaplan; and EVERY TIME he answered the phone with a gentle voice; a voice showing concern. Listening patiently to my concerns, Dr Kaplan shared what he suspected the problems were, and then suggested solutions. His calming demeanor was always reassuring.
After a given amount of time, Dr Kaplan ALWAYS followed up with a call. If the diagnosis was confirmed by another doctor (from hospital, Patient First), but the remedy did not meet with Dr Kaplan’s approval (because of his knowledge of my medical history), he immediately adjusted the remedy so that it was a better fit for me. For example: once when the recommended solution was surgery, Dr Kaplan absolutely refused to let the surgeon move forward without first doing an MRI. After the MRI, Dr Kaplan decided to treat the condition with medication. END OF DISCUSSION! NO SURGERY!
Words cannot fully express the extent of my gratitude and the respect I have for a gentleman who far exceeds expectations any one person could have of a doctor. Dr Kaplan is loyal to his patients. He is his patients friend. As I once told him, HE’s SIMPLY THE BEST!
