My history with Dr Robert Barnes
I am a retired Pontiac Michigan police officer . after years of responding to emergencies at Pontiac osteopathic Hospital now McLaren Hospital I became very familiar with a large number of emergency room doctors one doctor in particular was a personal friend. I asked him upon my retirement if he could recommend a doctor since I didn't have one at that time he responded and stated that Dr. Robert Barnes was a great young doctor and he would take care of me, I became Dr Barnes patient in 1999. He has been my doctor ever since .He has always provided me with the best possible care. If a special need arose, he would always advise me that I needed a specialist and would provide provide me with the name of one. Last year in 2023 I developed a heart condition . . Dr Barnes watched the progression of this condition closely . last summer 2023. I was doing therapy as a result of a fall . upon completion of one of the days therapy. I felt very uneasy and weak. I went to see Dr. Barnes and he advised me that I was in a fib. My heart was way out of line, never having a heart issue in the past, I was at a loss of my next course of action. Dr Barnes went down the hall for a few minutes and upon his return he stated that I needed to go to the emergency room at Saint Joseph hospital. I stated that I live across the street from Dr Barnes's office and that my wife would be able to come and pick me up and take me to the emergency room. He stated that he had already called Saint Joseph Hospital and found that there were 30 people waiting in the emergency room and that would not be a good option for me that I should go to the hospital in an ambulance I replied that I would have my wife meet me at the hospital and my car would have to stay here at the office . He then sent a member of his staff to my home and picked up my wife and brought her to the office, during which time the ambulance arrived and was preparing to take me to the hospital . upon her arrival she was able to follow us to the hospital in our car thus only having one car at the hospital or at his office. I then proceeded to stay in the hospital for a number of days and had an aorta valve replaced in my heart, and I have been recovering ever since. Due to Dr Barnes, knowledge and attention to this matter, it made our transition from normality to being a heart patient much easier. I recommend Dr. Barnes for a national metal of honor for his care of his patients if there is such an award. PS happily enjoying my winter in Fort Myers Florida with my wife of 48 years.
