My Experience with Atrial Fibrillation
The first several months that I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from day to day. I was taking the appropriate medications, but I was still very anxious about what I was experiencing. One day, I was experiencing very extreme shakiness and a general feeling of anxiety. I made an appointment with Dr. Lederman who was my PCP at the time. He checked my blood pressure and gave me an EKG which determined my heart rate was near 150 beats/minute. He assured me that I would be fine but immediately had a nurse wheel me downstairs to the ER where they were able to get me back to normal sinus rhythm and release me later in the day. I felt reassured by Dr. Lederman's comments that " I would be fine" and that eased a lot of anxiety as I was brought into the ER. The support and re-assuring words made a big difference to me and I feel grateful to have him as my physician. His words and actions made the difference in getting me the physical help and mental relief that I needed. Best regards.
