Dr. Scanlon has been my general practitioner for almost 22 years. When I moved from upstate New York to Maryland in 1998 to accept a job in DC, one of the first things I did was to research general practitioners in the greater DC area. Dr. Scanlon's name came up several times as being one of the best physicians. Over the years, I have travelled more widely, and, to fairly remote places, such as Antarctica, the Arctic, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and camping in the Serengeti; this summer I'll be going to Greenland. In every instance of preparing for such exotic travels, Dr. Scanlon ensured that I was well prepared to deal with any and most unanticipated, but possible illnesses and conditions given the unusual and somewhat harsh environments I would find myself in. And, of course, when I am not travelling, but when I have needed a physician who listens carefully to the patient, provides explanations that are clear and easily understood by a layperson like myself, who is an excellent diagnostician, and who deeply cares about her patients, Dr. Scanlon has always exceeded expectations. In short, you need to clone Dr. Scanlon, or at least ensure that she never retires!
