At my recent annual physical exam, my doctor Ned Lagare reviewed all of the labs and poked and prodded my torso. I was in good shape with stable year-over-year numbers. But, since we'd had a relationship that was approaching 20 years, he was well aware of my parents' health and the causes of their deaths. He suggested that given a family history of coronary disease I should have a CT-scan for Calcium Scoring so that we could monitor any coronary artery issues that I may have. Turns out, coronary arteries we fine, but the scan revealed a nodule on my lung and dictated follow-up. Lung cancer! No symptoms, no clue. I'm now on an aggressive treatment plan with a likely positive outcome.
