Lifesaving Coach
I consider my doctor, Gabriella Bowers, to be my lifesaving coach. She has been my GP for many years and was essential in diagnosing my Common Variable Immunodeficiency. There have been many instances where her intuition and curiosity of my condition have helped prepare me for, and treat, potential setbacks because of her continued research. One example occurred this past winter: After dodging Covid for 4 years, I tested positive while on vacation hundreds of miles away from home. The fear of my inability to fight off the virus prompted me to call Dr. Bowers - over the weekend. The first thing she did was calm me down, then explained a masterful protocol for dealing with this situation; she called in a prescription, stressed that I rest, and made the brilliant suggestion that, when ready, we drive home near major cities in the event of a needed hospitalization. She also assured me that I could call anytime if I felt worse. Thankfully, I quickly recovered. Dr. Bowers takes the time to know me and my health condition and I am so fortunate to have her as my doctor (and coach).
