Life saver

I have been a longtime patient with Dr. Menteer and have always appreciated her expertise and her availability. Toward the end of 2022 I went in for my annual physical and my PSA had risen from 2 to 3. To be cautious I went to a urologist I know at Tarzana hospital. After examining me he was sure this was nothing to worry about... so I didn't. At my next appointment with Dr. Menteer my PSA had risen to 4-5 so I scheduled a full exam with my urologist doctor at Tarzana. Again, he said he saw no enlargement of my prostate and suggested keeping an eye on it. When I next met with Dr. Menteer we did a PSA check and it had risen again... to 7.

At this point Dr. Menteer was emphatic that I need to see a new Urologist. I got a recommendation to a top urologist at Cedars and he was able to see me right away. Sure enough, I had prostate cancer in all 4 quadrants and we scheduled surgery right away. Fortunately, all the cancer was contained in my prostate, the prostate was surgically removed, and thankfully I'm doing very well now.

I have to believe that, had it not been for Dr. Menteer's persistence and insistence, it may have been too late. I can't sing Dr. Menteer's praises loudly enough. Thanks you, thank you, thank you.
