Life Long Physician
Dr. Wendy Walker has been my personal family practitioner for 25 years now. She has seen me through birth of two daughters, which she delivered. She has cared for my two daughters through out their life time and continues to support them through the MDVIP program. She help to discover that my oldest daughter was on the Spectrum. She helped to discover my other daughters other illnesses that she displayed when she was younger. My daughters are now 23 and 24 years old.
Dr. Walker was with me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November of 2015. During that challenging time in my life, she was with me every step of the way. She helped to make sure that I got the best care hospital in our rural area of Northern Michigan. She made sure that my appointments were on time and kept track of things for me even when I could not keep track of them myself. I am proud to say that I have been in remission for six years now. She still cares for me by allowing me to get my blood drawn at her office rather than go to the infusion center due to the center triggering PTSD of my chemo treatments.
Recently in 2023, I had a serious moment with mental illness. I was in a real crisis. Dr. Walker stayed after 5pm on a Monday, after working all day to talk with me and developed a plan to help. She stayed with me for two hours that night. I know of no other doctor who would do this for their patient beside Dr. Walker. We went through all of my medications and did a deep dive into everything medical. She saw me once a week for six weeks. She even purchased a book of daily devotionals for me call "You Got This". Dr. Walker has gone way above and beyond at all times of my life for me.
Dr. Wendy Walker deserves recognition for being the best physician in the Northern Michigan Region. I am blessed that she joined the MDVIP program because she is allowed to give all of her patients and their dependents the care that is "Top Notch". She provides emails of tips on living a healthier life, our incredible annual physical, opportunities for testing for recurrent cancers that other doctors might not have access to, appointments are on time - no long wait times, community events that are healthy activities such as skiing, tailgate parties, snowshoeing, etc. Dr. Walker is a vital part of our community. We are so fortunate to have her.
The photo I am attaching is of my family at my oldest daughter's wedding from this past October 2023. We were able to have this photo because Dr. Walker helped me to not only be a cancer survivor but also a mental health survivor too. She helped and continues to help my daughters through their illnesses. This photo is a tribute to her and all of her hard work and dedication that she has done for my family.
