I'm so fortunate to have found Dr. Mark Gregory long, long ago
I found Dr. Mark Gregory years and years ago (probably in the mid 1980s) after a year of unsatisfactory HMO care, especially the obvious indications that “my” doctor was less than thrilled to have me as a patient, one whose lifelong struggle with weight would never be a “success” under his care. Once I emerged from my HMO plan, I began asking friends for doctor suggestions and one was for Dr. Gregory. At the time he was in a 2-doctor office and, during my initial visit, he spent over 2 hours listening and talking to me about my life/medical history. Even though the American system of medicine had not yet become today’s Medical-Industrial Complex, I was still surprise by his interest, the conversation’s wide range and the focus on other issues besides my weight. It seemed that I had found a doctor who was concerned about my overall welfare not just the numbers on a scale.
So I followed him from one practice or location to another and from one medical issue to another. Dr. Mark keeps all regular preventive care up to date, and my issues remain fairly minor including two successful knee replacements. While I had few medical issues, family members and friends weren’t always as fortunate, and I always felt comfortable raising questions about their conditions and treatment plans and whether there were other options they might pursue. In so doing, I learned a lot about my family’s health history and potential inherited weaknesses if/when any of their symptoms showed up for me.
As I aged, I realized I would follow Dr. Gregory wherever he went (locally), and I have been happy to do so. Thanks to Dr. Gregory and his entire staff for supporting my efforts to remain healthy in this aging body.
