I believe if Dr Book had not taken the conservative route I would not be alive today...

I retired to Kiawah in 1999. I had been to Duke for an executive physical 9 months before and they had found my PSA a bit high...said to get another PSA test in 6 months. With the change it was 9 months and Dr Book was reviewing my PSA with me. The PSA level was really about the same or maybe a bit below what it had been at Duke, so I was thinking he would say let's review in a year or so. But, typical of him, he said, let's get you to an urologist to be sure. Urologist found evidence of cancer, I had a biopsy and found I had a Gleason score of 7...very devastating. I had surgery and am doing fine 18 years later. I believe if Dr Book had not taken the conservative route I would not be alive today...I think of him in that context often.
