Humor, and Storytelling Are Dr. Kalonaros' Rx for Good Health
When I moved to Long Island from Manhattan, I knew I would need to find a new doctor. Personality and a sense of caring was something i wanted in a new doctor. However, Doctor-shopping was not something I looked forward to. After all, how do you interview doctors? What questions do you ask when you want to determine is if you and your new doctor will get along? My friend suggested that i meet his own doctor, Dr. Vasilios Kalonaros. My friend said that the doctor is funny, warm, friendly and caring. My friend was right. Visiting Dr. Kalonaros is fun and something to look forward to....he always has a story. He always makes you laugh. He often relates that he has symptoms similar to my own. Here's how it typically goes...if I have an ache, then he has one just like it, but 10 times worse. If I have a cold, then he just got over one that was really bad. My thinking is that he is just making this up. This way his story gets me to recognize that most ailments are common to everyone. And, then I don't worry too much about my own health issue. Whether Dr. Kalonaros really has similar pains or colds, or not, isn't the point. Rather, the point is that his stories are funny, and I recognize that he can relate to me and understands my health concerns. It works for me!
