I have had acute pancreatitis three times over the last 8 years. Never had gall stones or sludge and it is not really clear to doctors why I get it. The third episode occurred while I was out of town, out of the state I live in, planning to attend a conference. I never made it to the conference but ended up in the ER and admitted to the hospital with acute pancreatitis. I called Dr. Sarah Morris to keep her informed. It was a confusing and difficult time as most of the staff in the ER were interns and were not sure about test results and gave me results that never seemed to be true. After admitted the doctors did not really find what was causing it even though I had multiple tests and extensive blood work. After I got out of the hospital I returned home as the conference was over. The next day I started having the same pains again - the beginnings of acute pancreatitis. I called Dr. Morris and said I did not want to go into the hospital again. She provided excellent input on how to eat in the short term to help avoid escalation of the pain. We talked several times over the next 7-9 days. The pain subsided and with her instructions I slowly moved my diet back to my normal diet and did not get acute pancreatitis again. She is always reachable and provides clear instructions and input to help with a problem. She has been my Dr for over 25 years.
