Grateful in Georgia
I have been a patient of Dr. James West for over 25 years. Throughout those years, I have also experienced many many other doctors and observed how each one in his/her own way interacts with patients. Yet, in all of these years, never have I had the privilege of being treated by a doctor like Dr. West. His people skills and personality make him stand out above all the others. During our visits, whether it be in person or on the phone, Dr. West always listens deeply to my concerns and additionally values my input which is very very important to me. I have been known to focus on minute issues, but he is so understanding, patient, and doesn't dismiss my concerns. In 2020 I had written and printed my (one and only book) of my life story (memoir). I had given it to some of our family and friends at Christmas. Because of the comfortableness and strength of our relationship, I decided to share one of my books with him. He was so excited for me. He said he would read it. In 2023 I was blessed to have my (now edited and formatted) book "Going Home" by Carol Schoo Busche published on Amazon. Recently, during a visit, I shared the good news with him. Again, he was so encouraging and mentioned he thought the original was pretty well written, considering this was my first book. The mere fact that he took time to read it, despite having a busy medical practice and personal life, was very touching and I will be ever so grateful. I must share one other story. In 2023 I was scheduled for surgery on my left carotid artery which was 90% blocked. There was no previous indication of this blockage, but thankfully the surgery was successful. When I came home my blood pressure became very erratic over the weekend. Dr. West was on a hunting trip that weekend and unfortunately I had to call him several times. Not once did he seem frustrated. He remained calm and guided me to what to do. I will be forever grateful that he has been a huge part of my life journey, keeping me physically and emotionally healthy. He is a very caring soul. Thanks Dr. West.
