On-going Support

Dr. Richard Martin has been my primary care physician since 1998 so I have many examples of “moments that made a difference - - a moment that mattered more than others.” As you requested, I chose one outstanding example that involved my husband who had later become a patient of Dr. Martin’s also.

In 2016, my husband was critically ill in the Intensive Care Unit and our daughter, his brother, his sister and I were with him when Dr. Martin arrived to see him. As Dr. Martin thoroughly answered questions and gave explanations, he stood beside me and quietly, gently, and compassionately put his arm around my shoulders. I will never forget the support I felt both as his patient and as the best ever doctor in charge of my husband’s care although my husband did not survive. Dr. Martin’s gesture of sincere compassion filled the room and was felt by each family member present as well as by me. I continue to be grateful.
