Going Above and Beyond
I have a new physician here in Park City, Utah. His name is Dr. Spenser Reed. I've only met him and known him since June of 2023. I am also an RN. Having my annual physical in June 2023 with Dr. Reed was exciting as he was new, yet at the same time was sad to miss my previous physician, Dr. Kim Scott. Fast forward to August, September and October of 2023. I began experiencing unusual muscle cramps which increased in tetany to almost muscular seizures. Plus as a 68 active female, my life was becoming more of fatigue and an inability to gain any rest or comfort due to the horrendous cramps. Labs looked perfect. But symptoms continued getting worse to the point my entire body would seize with tetany type "seizures". Then one appointment, Dr. Reed truly listened to my discussing what we might be missing. As an RN it is imperative to me that my doctor listen to my needs and help plan my care. In the midst I happened to mention an electrolyte drink (which is extremely high in sodium) that provided the only relief to sleep more than 20 minutes per night, relax or even move! He immediately began labs to check ACTH, Cortisol, MRI of the brain and more extensive labs, assessments. In the process we discovered not only do I have partial empty sella syndrome but also have Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency. So when a doctor LISTENS and also calls me at home to provide results, concern and care planning it is above and beyond being the Best Physician MDVIP could offer. I am unable to add a photo as my computer not cooperating.
