Emoji Medicine

I am an non-insulin dependent diabetic and have to take a 10 days of steroids to treat another condition. Dr. McKenzie is supplementing my diabetic treatment with injectible insulin to help keep my blood sugar manageable. I'm a little nervous about this, as you would expect. But we have easily stayed in touch via text messaging-- up to four times per day in the first few days--to help me get the doses adjusted so that my blood sugar does not go too high. I've appreciated that kind of attention and reponse. Once we got a regimen down, we started using emojis to signal a good outcome to one another. We even made avatars! And I'm 70 years old!
