Dr. Michelle Parker
I met Dr. Parker in 2018 a couple of months after my husband’s death. His death marked a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and I was his caregiver. The whole time was a nightmare. I watched the man I loved and was married to for 55 years just slip away in a downward spiral to some inward place where he no longer knew me or anyone else for that matter. During that 12 year period I was thrown into “high alert” mode which marked everyday of that whole Alzheimer’s journey as I watched pieces of his life just fall away into oblivion. After his death I was exhausted and feeling “shattered”. I was overcome with anxiety and the effects of chronic stress. I had not been to a doctor for about 8 years. I knew I was not well yet I did not know who to go to or who to trust. One day my dentist mentioned that there was a new doctor in our neighborhood who was gradually earning the trust and respect of a significant number of our residents! I decided to make an appointment. I was a bit nervous because I was so overcome with exhaustion and grief that I didn’t even know what to say to her. Slowly and kindly she engaged me and listened deeply to me with compassion and concern. Dr. Parker is an excellent listener. She treated me gently and understood that I needed to move slowly to get tested for this and that because I had been through a great deal of trauma. She was patient and worked slowly to gain my trust - all the while encouraging me to tell her if I needed medication for my grief and anxiety which was quite amazing because i have never experienced that kind of compassion from a doctor. I am deeply grateful for Dr. Parker. She has been so forward thinking and thorough in assessing and treating me. I trust her implicitly. She also is very open about discussing treatments….she will listen to me and then state her position firmly and take the time to discuss her recommendations. I have a great respect for Dr. Parker. She takes a real interest in people. She goes out of her way to care about her patients which is such a gift to her patients. She is highly respected by her patients and by the medical community in our area. Several times with different doctors I have been asked who my primary care Physician is and unanimously there has been instant positive feedback from my doctors about Dr. Parker. Comments like…”you are very lucky to have Dr. Parker as your doctor”; or “Oh, Dr. Parker…she is a terrific physician; or my eye doctor who always says … “.bet you love having Dr. Parker as your Primary care Doctor.”. This has been quite affirming to me and I hope to Dr. Parker as I share this feedback with her. This is my story and I am grateful for the opportunity to share it and to honor and express my deep appreciation for Dr. Parker. Thank you Dr. Parker for all your great care and concern for me.
