Dr McMillin is more than my doctor
We have been associated with Dr McMillin for close to his entire career as a physician. He was working with/under my family Dr that I had since the day he told my mother she was expecting me. As time had gone by, watching him treat my elderly Grandmother, listening to her and showing her great compassion, I grew fond of him. When Grandma told him she was having chest pains, he took her serious. Our family Dr that we had seen forever, kept telling her it was acid reflux from her hiatal hernia. Dr McMillin didn’t. He gave me cause to take this more serious. So on Valentine’s Day many years ago, I took her complaints seriously and insisted my grandpa take her right to the ER. Guess what? She was having a heart attack with a 95% blockage in her main artery.
A few years later, my husband, who suffers from TBI from head injuries sustained during his service in the military, was hospitalized with sever head pain. I expected my family Dr whom has taken care of us my whole life would do something for my husband. Nothing really happened. For 2 days he laid in the hospital bed in horrible pain. He was getting pain medicine but not any kind that would be considered as trying to control the pain. I decided then to reach out to Dr McMillin. He came to the hospital, took over my husband’s care and gave him an injection of a string medication. Within 7 minutes, the pain he had for so very long was gone. My husband got up and danced. Dr McMillin gave me my husband back. He took my husband off the many other meds that my husband was on causing horrible side effects. I know that Dr McMillin saved my husband’s life. No doubt in my mind. Dr McMillin knows it deep down that he did too. If my husband would have continued with the course of treatment he was receiving, his days were numbered.
As for me, Dr McMillin was the only Dr that believed me when I told him I was sick. He kept pushing with me until we finally received a diagnosis and I was able to find a World Renowned surgeon that was able to treat me to the best that I will ever be. Dr McMillin knows my struggles ahead of me and watches me closely and advises me what our next steps should be so I can have my best life moving forward.
Dr McMillin has been our Dr now for close to 25 years now. He is not just our Dr, he is a close and treasured friend. Finding a primary care physician is a hard task anymore! I consider us truly blessed! I pray he doesn’t retire before we go Home to be with Our Savior! God Bless you Dr McMillin and your staff Dawn and Chris!
With our love and never ending appreciation,
