Diagnosing a rare tumor
Dr Hull is an excellent clinician who is very caring, friendly, knowledgeable and listens to her patients. Dr Hull will go the extra mile to diagnose and figure out a medical problem and is very responsive to patient concerns.
I recently was in the ER for hypertension. This was the third time in 18 months. It was annoying to listen to the ER doctor regarding eating healthy, exercise and managing stress. I exercise daily including cardio, flexibility, and strength training. I perform qigong and dao yin exercises and meditate daily. I eat a low carb diet that I learned from Dr. Hull which includes a good source of protein from fish, chicken and pork, a variety of vegetables, and fruits. I have incorporated acupuncture and TCM practices within my lifestyle and diet. So, it was a surprise to me that my blood pressure was not being controlled on medication. I was unsatisfied with the cause being related to my family history of hypertension from both my parents. On my follow-up appointment following the ER visit, Dr Hull and I discussed the possible cause of the hypertension episodes where my BP was 200/110 and rapid HR. Dr Hull ordered all the testing including EKG, echocardiogram, CT scan of abdomen, and blood work. The blood work showed elevated cortisol levels so additional testing was ordered by Dr Hull. The cortisol urine test results showed a very high level of cortisol; yet, the CT scan showed no tumors on my adrenal gland. Dr. Hull had another radiologist look at the CT scan and I did have a 10mm adrenal adenoma on my right adrenal gland. Dr. Hull called me personally the Friday before New Year’s Eve. Dr Hull’s excellent care and concern enabled me to get to an expert who could perform adrenal surgery quickly. I was able to research and find the leading adrenal surgeon in the country, Dr Carling, was located in Tampa. Presently, I had my surgery two days ago and my cortisol levels are normal following the surgery. I am feeling much better, and my blood pressure is beginning to normalize. I emailed Dr Hull on the portal two days after surgery and she requested to see me the next day for follow up appointment. I am very grateful Dr Hull is my PCP.
