Caring and compassionate
From my very first visit to Dr. Velsmid in January of 2017, one month after my husband ad passed away, I knew I had found all the qualities I was looking for in a Dr. I'd retired 6 months earlier, within days my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and my longtime Dr was retiring. A friend gave me Dr Velsmid's name. He was kind, an excellent listener, and willing to discuss any medical issues. A couple of years later, at a visit he asked "What would you like to accomplish for today's visit?" I said i wanted a plan for my hand. Id been struggling with numbness and pain which just kept getting worse. He examined mt arm and hand. He made an appointment for me to be tested for carpal Tunnel, which was subsequently diagnosed as severe. and in less than 6 weeks, I had the surgery. More recently, I called bc my heart rate seemed higher than usual. After taking my Blood Pressure which has been normal, he discovered my BP was elevated and after doing an EKG to rule out other problems he gave me a low dose treatment for BP. Within hours of taking my first pill my heartbeat regulated and symptoms went away. When he went to the MDVIP model, I did not hesitate. I realized I was spending more on my Dogs vet visits and medication than on my own health. I have spoken to my friends who chose not to sign up and always ask them "What is more important than your health?" having a Dr who cares, and who now has the time to spend with his patients is a priceless gift. Just this past weekend a neighbor asked about my Dr as her GP has retired. I told her about Dr Velsmid, and she took his contact info so she can sign up. Her husband is losing his GP in a few months and she is going to sign him up as well. We are so very fortunate to have him close by.
