Boy, you really did a job on your knee!

I respect Dr. Durant's knowledge and training and I also respect her as a person. I don't want to be lectured by my doctor. I don't need to be talked down to by some exalted person on a pedestal. I want to be able to have a person-to-person discussion with my primary care physician. Dr. Durant fills that requirement at a five-star level. In March 2023 I slipped on the ice and fell flat on my back in an instant. I quickly discovered I could not get upright by myself because my left leg was not functioning. I finally was able to get into the house with the help of my wife and some strangers who happened by. I called Dr. Durant and told her about my fall and obvious injury. I said there was really no need for me to come to her office because she did not have the imaging equipment necessary to see what had happened. She agreed and said I should go to Reno Orthopedic Center Express. It was late in the afternoon when I arrived at ROC. They took x-rays but were unable to do a cat scan that afternoon. ROC made an appointment for me to have a cat scan at an imaging center very early the next morning. It turned out I had ripped my left quadricep tendon off the patella. I figured I would now press forward with ROC and wouldn't hear from Dr. Durant. But I was wrong. Less than two hours after the scan I received a call from Sugar Pine Family Medicine. It was not from the nurse, but Dr. Durant herself. She had reviewed the scan and was calling to let me know what it revealed. Her opening words were, "Boy, you really did a job on your knee." I thought her personal communication was great.
