The Best Physician Ever!
I've known Dr. Erlaine Bello while employed at The Queen's Medical Center for 13 years. Everyone told me that she was mean so to watch out. While at Queen's I supervised the Telecommunications department and had to deal with a lot of the physicians and professional staff. These individuals do have a right to be upset when pages by the operators were not done correctly, especially emergency pages. Where patients are involved we dealing with a life/death situation; therefore, it is important that all pages are done correctly the first time and the physicians are contacted immediately. When an emergency page is requested, it is the operators responsibilty that it is done in a timely manner.
My first experience with Dr. Bello, I remember an issue that occurred involving Dr. Bello and my staff. This incident happened after working hours and on a weekend. According to my staff she called the operators who said she was very upset and wanted to speak to their supervisor. I said, please connect me to her. When speaking to Dr. Bello regarding the issue, I felt the anger in her voice, but she seemed to have calm down. Discussing the issue with Dr. Bello, she actually was very nice. I apologized on behalf of my staff. I took responsibilty and assurred her that I will followup with my staff the next work day. During our discussion she actually was very calm and very nice. I thought to myself why is Dr. Bello labelled to be mean. She is not and I really liked her.
I became a patient of Dr. Bello some years later and I have found her to be intelligent, warm, caring and always put her patients first. She thoroughly explained her findings in a manner that you could understand. She covered all basis of your condition with the necessary lab work, x-rays, cultures, etc. She wasn't a push over to prescribe unnecessary drugs and/or tests. Whenever she suggested further consultation and followup with another physician she always made sure that a report of findings, test or medications prescribed by the consultant is forwarded to her so that she knows first hand what the consultant is doing and why, If there were documentation of questionable procedures, etc. she would immediately followup with the consultant and questioned why and would also question whether this was done or that was done.
She is a very thorough in her examinations and findings and her explanation of what is going. In comparison to my other physicians I rate Dr. Bello with an A plus because she is not a 5 - 10 minute doctor - meaning you go in and you are out within 5 - 10 minutes. She takes the time to go over things with you. She calls things as she sees it and she is very honest. Her ongoing support and care makes me feel that I don't have to worry or have anything to worry about because she has showed me how much she cares about my health and well being. I'm in great "hands" under her care. I feel that she is the best physician ever and felt very fortunate that she took me in as a patient. I appreciate Dr. Bello very much and shout out to her that she is the best physician ever!!!
