Attention to Detail

I have so many good stories about Dr. Shep Dunlevie it is hard to pick one. First of all, Dr. Dunlevie is my doctor as well as my husband's and 4 out of our 5 grown children. The 5th one doesn't live in Atlanta. Dr. Dunlevie works tirelessly to investigate, diagnose and treat all kinds of different health issues. In fact, my 39 year old son recently said, "I credit Dr. Dunlevie for pushing me to pay attention to my health - eat well, exercise, pay attention to symptoms and issues."
For me, one story that merits sharing is as follows.
I had been struggling with jaw pain for months - visited dentists, oral surgeons, periodontists, etc. Finally I was diagnosed with necrosis of the jaw. I had an appointment with Dr. Dunlevie for something else and mentioned it. He suggested a CT scan to be sure nothing else was going on. It did confirm the necrosis but also detected a fungal ball in my cheek sinus. Dr. Dunlevie strongly recommended I see an ENT who recommended surgery. I really dragged my feet at the thought but Dr. Dunlevie stressed how important it was to have it removed. I finally had the surgery and the ENT said it had been there awhile and very much needed to be removed. It could have caused some serious problems. I'm now grateful it was discovered and removed.
