Always There for Me
Dr. Tracy Barefield and her Team have always been there for me when I needed them. My scariest moments were in the spring of 2021. I woke up real sick one morning and had a friend take me to the ER. I found out that I have Afib....came home...but actually got sicker. I was hospitalized again. They first diagnosed me with Congestive Heart Failure but cancelled that diagnosis and sent me home. The hospital had assigned a Home Health Nurse for me. On one visit, I explained to her that I just could NOT breathe. She checked me out carefully. She said, "I'm no doctor and can't make a diagnosis, but I think that you have Pleural Effusion. She immediately called Dr. Barefield.
One of Dr. Barefield's nurses called a mobile imagery van...and I had my chest x-rayed in my living room the next morning. The following day I had an MRI in Augusta. The next morning I met with a Pulmonologist. He and Dr. Barefield have an excellent working relationship. He was NOT supposed to see ANY patients that day, but he did see me at 8:30 that morning. I DID have Pleural Effusion and they withdrew the fluid the following Monday. It was determined that one of the medicines that the hospital cardiologist gave me had caused the Pleural Effusion.
There were several people who worked together to zero in on my medical problem...and I am thankful to each of them.
But Dr. Barefield and her excellent Team worked fast and diligently to help find my problems and make me well again. This was a scary time for me. I am forever grateful to Dr. Barefield for ALL she has done for me...during that time and since. I will stay with her until...oh dreadful thought...I'm put in a nursing home or until the Lord calls me home.
