Always Having My Back!!

I hope I can keep this at 5000 🙄!
I met my Dr. through another Dr because I was moving and needed her recommendations on Dr’s that had the same priorities as she did ( with her patients) .
I started seeing Dr. Walend about 25 years ago after this recommendation .
Obviously I was much younger however my priorities were still high . For me , my top priority was “bedside manner and Old Town Doctor compassion “. I , of course , wanted a Dr who knew their profession AND wanted to know THEIR PATIENTS!
I found out almost immediately that Dr. Walend was going to be “MY DOCTOR “!
She had my back from day one! I was very fortunate to have been in good health so I really didn’t have to see her that often .
I was a Flight Attendant at the time and I’ll never forget the very first time I Really NEEDED to see my Dr and fast ! I was on a flight and having trouble with dropping my drinks when giving them to my passengers. I would start to shake as if I was handing a drink to a celebrity or the President of the United States!! I was scared and of course you always imagine the WORST!
I called off from my flight because it didn’t stop . I called Dr. Walends office and she had me come in immediately!
It turned out that my thyroid was acting up and I needed to start medication immediately. With more tests my issue was treated and my fears ended .
Dr. Walend was compassionate, patient, supportive, and more than anything, understanding without judgement.
That is and will always be her CHARACTER!! She is and always has been there for me, answering my emails, phone calls and even taking time out of her busy schedule to write thank you notes . She’s there in EVERY WAY!!
I realize that now that I’m 74 I’m probably not the best patient even though she’s been there for me since day one!
I am a procrastinator, I’ve put off getting basic procedures done ( colonoscopy, etc due to terrible pre-procedures 😩).
All of that however has been due to my fears , not to anything Dr. Walend has done . She’s always getting me referrals, and spending time needed when I’m in her office for a procedure or visit.
I’ll never forget the time my parents were dying ( eventually 20 days apart). Dr. Walend was there for me EVERY STEP OF THE WAY! She gave me her personal number and said to call her anytime.
It was an extremely difficult time and most traumatic experience due to “family members and family dysfunction).
She was always a young woman with a mature , caring, loving heart with the mind of an older, wiser, and more mature than her age .
Dr. Walend is for ME, an Angel 👼 on this Earth and I thank the heavens above for bringing both of us together . I could go on and on about her and how much she’s done for me and how she’s been there for me . There’s no end to her dedication, loyalty, professionalism, compassion, commitment, etc, etc!!!!
Dr. Walend has what is lacking in today’s medical profession and that is GOOD LISTENERS!! She has so many great qualities and yet listening and hearing me is the most powerful, valuable, and believing my voice!
Thank you Dr. Walend for all the years that I’ve had the privilege of being one of your patients!
